October 16 The Week Ahead...(and more!)

We had a great run at Park Hill this past weekend (even in the rain!!).

October 21 - Odessa Marching Invitational - (Guards in our class:  William Chrisman, Park Hill, Ray Pec; Drumlines in our class:  Truman, Ray Pec, Park Hill;  Bands in our class:  Ray Pec, William Chrisman, Truman, Park Hill)

ADMISSION COSTS: $10 adults/$5 children & seniors, 5 and under are free


PLEASE EAT A BIG BREAKFAST - WE WILL ONLY SERVE DINNER HERE.

Load Trucks and Trailer at 10:30am
Depart LHS 11:30am
Arrive Odessa 12:30pm

  • Guard and Drumline get dressed immediately
  • They will have space in the SW corner of our stadium to pre-load props. We can bring them to the stadium during any of the breaks. Please enter through the northeast corner and bring them around the visitor side track to the southeast end zone. They will have field assistants to show us where to store our props. We plan to move them over early IF it's not too windy.

  • Dinner at 3:30 pm (Walking Tacos!!)

  • Field Show
    • Start unpacking uniforms at 4:00
    • Start dressing at 4:30
    • Warm Up – 5:35pm, Area B
      • DO NOT PLAY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT WARMUP FIELD
    • Gate – 6:10pm
      • There is an outlet located at the 50 yard line of the field on both the front and back sidelines.
      • Drum Major podiums staged on the track must sit on the provided protective surface this year. Any podiums on wheels will be exempt from this. Field assistants will be available to help move these as needed.
    • Performance – 6:25pm
      • Pack up immediately after performance- DRUM MAJORS STAY IN UNIFORM

  • Silver Class – Liberty, William Chrisman, Truman, Ray Pec, Park Hill

  • Awards – 7:35pm
    • Awards ceremonies are Drum Major retreat. Drum Majors should report to the northwest corner of the stadium 15 minutes prior to the listed awards time (7:20 PM)

  • We have arranged for FREE help for the all district material.  Please take advantage of this!  It's also the material we use for the LHS Concert/Symphonic auditions that will take place on 10/26 after school.  Here are the offerings (note the dates and times!):
    • Flutes – Adrienne Garstang – Thursdays, 1-1:35
      • October 19, October 26
  • Oboes – Blake Johnson - Mondays, 1-1:35
    • October 23 
  • Clarinets – Cindy – Mondays & Wednesdays, 1-1:35
    • October 23, 30, November 1
  • Saxophones – Will Peak, Tuesdays 1-1:35pm
    • October 17 (tenors/baris), 24 (altos), 31 (tenors/baris)
  • Trumpet – Ms. Terwey - will be scheduled by her
  • Horn – Andrea Stanton - Tuesdays, 1-1:35pm
    • October 17, 24, 31
  • Trombone – Chacko Finn, Wednesdays at 2:45pm
    • October 25, November 1
  • Euphonium - Scott Rogers, Mondays 1-1:35pm
    • October 30
  • Tuba – Joseph Felton, Wednesdays at 2:45pm

  • Percussion – Mr. Owen will put up sign up sheets on the board outside the office
  • October 16 & 17 - Parent Teacher Conferences - if your student has an A in the course, please leave the conference spots available for those that need to use them those two evenings.
  • October 26 - LHS Concert/Symphonic Auditions, after school - students will sign up for individual 7 minute slots and results will be posted by the afternoon of 10/27 (at the latest!)
